If you’re weighing the alternatives, here’s the honest read.

vs. ClickUp

ClickUp is “one app to replace them all” — including project management. Strong for software teams. For services SMBs that need real capacity awareness, retainer math, and skill-based assignment, ClickUp tops out fast. Verdict: if your work is Kanban-friendly and you don’t care about retainer profitability, ClickUp is fine. Otherwise switch.

vs. Teamwork

Teamwork is the closest competitor on services-ops shape — retainers, billable hours, P&L. But the four-SKU stack (Projects + CRM + Desk + Spaces) means separate billing and loose integration. Meridian is one product with retainers + capacity + AI co-pilot, and stacks with Keystone for the CRM side. Verdict: if you’re tired of the Teamwork SKU stack, switching gets you a unified suite at a flat per-seat price.

vs. Smartsheet

Smartsheet is the enterprise spreadsheet-PMO play. Powerful but expensive (USM seat shakeup of 2025), demands a dedicated admin headcount, AI is Copilot-in-a-cell. Both are best-in-class for cross-functional task tracking and visual coordination. Neither was built for the services-SMB shape — retainer profitability, capacity-aware solver, skill matching.
